The Potomac Crescent Parent and Community Education committee offers a variety of guest speakers on a variety of topics true to the Waldorf experience. Notable guests have included Jack Petrash, Nancy Foster, Joan Almon, Cecelia Karpoff and others. No registration is necessary for these adults-only events.

On Thursday, February 26, 2015, renowned Waldorf teacher and nationally known speaker on education and parenting, Jack Petrash, is coming to Potomac Crescent Waldorf School to speak on “Waldorf Curriculum and How it Meets the Needs of the Developing Child.”  If you have never heard Jack speak (and even if you have), this is a Parent Education Evening you do not want to miss!  Please feel welcome to invite your friends, families, and even strangers on the street to come hear this gifted veteran teacher speak to the importance of supporting the needs of children in the classroom! Click here for our flyer!

Jack Petrash is the founder and director of the Nova Institute. He is an educator with over thirty years of classroom experience (currently his fourth class at the Washington Waldorf School) and a teacher of teachers. He has written extensively on issues pertaining to innovative classroom instruction, has served on the editorial board of the journal Encounter, and is the author of Understanding Waldorf Education: Teaching from the Inside Out. In addition, has traveled extensively to work with parents. His parenting pieces have appeared in the Washington Post and on National Public Radio and he is also the author of Covering Home: Lessons on the Art of Fathering from the Game of Baseball, which received the National Parenting Publication’s gold award. His third book, Navigating the Terrain of Childhood: A Guidebook for Meaningful Parenting and Heartfelt Discipline was released in August of 2004, the Nova Institute Press’ first publication.
